Twenty-five years ago, Vitalis was pioneering in the organic seed market. Our founder Jan Velema believed in the potential in organic seed for professional growers. This belief is something I have shared with him ever since. We worked hard, with commitment and conviction, on our organic seed programme. This effort paid off. We are the leading supplier of organic seed. We offer much diversity with more than 400 certified organic varieties.
Organic is no longer a niche. I’m very happy to see that. Taking our responsibility for the environment seriously, that is what the organic way means to me. For our future, it is essential to work sustainably. We need to leave the soil healthy for future generations. We achieved a lot already. I am also proud to see the growing importance of what we are doing.
I believe that trust is vital for successful organic seed production. The complete process only works if we can trust and rely on our producers. This is important because we cannot see what is inside the seed. During my travels, I maintain our relationship. One of the best parts of my job is working together at a crop. I love to talk to our producers. I see how they are doing. During these visits we discuss how Vitalis can support to improve. Next to that, we do not only generate jobs. We also create a healthy working environment and contribute to the financial security of many families. I very often receive this appreciation in return for my visits and our success.
